Nationally known speaker/teacher Josh Hunt is coming to our area to lead a special conference February 11th at 6:30 p.m. at FBC Lyons. Change Your Church or Die is a great conference that every pastor, staff member, and church volunteer will benefit from attending. This conference will address real problems many churches are facing and will give each participant some very practical and useful ideas on how to take a church from where it is today to where God would have it be.

Please remember our monthly DBA Prayer Rally which will take place Monday, February 1 at Cross Timbers Baptist (Vidalia) at 6:30 p.m. to specifically pray for our community. Please invite anyone  you know (no matter the Christian denomination they belong to) who has a heart for eradicating spiritual darkness in our communities to join you and others as we seek God in prayer.

On Monday, February 15, 2016 at our DBA office in Ailey we will be hosting Federal Payroll Reporting Requirements for Churches and Financial Update seminar for church leaders. This seminar will address things the church must do in order to legally have the ability to pay salaries or housing allowances, as well as proper reporting.  It will also address IRS changes, financial requirements, and payroll issues for churches. Our Georgia Baptist Missionary Tony Neal will be leading this time of discussion so please join us and feel free to ask questions. This seminar is for anyone but especially for pastors, staff, church treasurers and even deacons. This is offered free of charge and is open to any church or denomination.

Our first of two mission trips to West Virginia will be March 28 (the day after Easter) through April 2. This trip will be a construction trip which will take place in the New River area of the state. The cost is $200 per person which covers lodging, food, and transportation. If interested in this construction mission trip (for men and women) please attend the upcoming trip information meeting which will be this Sunday, January 31 at 3 p.m. at our DBA office in Ailey.

I am very excited about our upcoming mission trip to Kantunilkin, Mexico June 21–27 where we will be working in small villages sharing Christ through revivals, construction, prayer walking, testimonies, and vacation bible school. If you might be interested in this mission adventure please join us this Sunday, January 31 at 4 p.m. at our DBA office in Ailey where we will be sharing the details. No commitment necessary at this time we just want you to be informed and have a time to ask questions.

Quote of the Week

(in response to the notion a church will lose people if they change in order to reach their community) “If the church doesn’t change, it will still lose people. It will lose the people whose hearts beat for the church to be the hope of the world. It will lose the people who desire, more than their own comfort, God’s pleasure. It will lose the people who are not living for themselves but for others. In other words, they will lose the people who look like Jesus. These are not the people a church can afford losing.” –Brad Powell
